fresh seasonal produce,

grown on a little slice of history

History of Riverview

Riverview, built in 1838, sits in the heart of Dunnsville overlooking the Rappahannock River. Originally part of the Bathurst Plantation, the home has been lovingly cared for by generations of families. The Riverview property is not new to vegetable production. In the 1880s, the Kriete family established a cannery on the property under the Old Dominion Brand label. The cannery processed fruits and vegetables from farmers in the area – most significantly tomatoes and black-eyed peas. The property is also home to the historic Dunn Store opened in 1889 and served as both a drugstore and general store. We hope to restore Dunn store one day.

Picked with love!

We have a passion for fresh fruit and vegetables sustainably grown and picked at the peak of freshness! The garden and orchard that feeds our family is the same that will feed yours and we endeavor to grow without the use of harsh synthetic chemicals.

a labor of love

As long as we can remember, conversations with our grandparents, parents, siblings and now adult children have evolved around food – the tending, cooking and preserving of fresh fruit and vegetables grown in our gardens.

Our garden, like our marriage, has grown each year – from tomato and basil pots on the back deck to a ten thousand square foot garden, one acre orchard and a small vineyard at our historic home, Riverview, in Virginia. Riverview Farm and Winery, launched in 2023, provides us the opportunity to share our beloved hobby with you and to enjoy a new professional adventure.

After retiring from public service, Michael tends to the farm with assistance from his wife Kerry. The farm is a labor of love – and we so enjoy creating a community around food.
